Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026 · Applies to the AI Culler desktop application and this website.

In one sentence: AI Culler processes your photos entirely on your own computer. The only information that ever leaves your machine is what is needed to activate and validate your licence.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller for AI Culler is Richard Tsai, an individual software developer ("we", "us"). Contact: richard@aiculler.cc, No.1, Jiangnan Industrial Zone, Nancun, Guangzhou, GD, PRC.

2. Your photos never leave your device

The application reads the folders you select in order to group, score and sort your images. All of that work — decoding, AI inference, thumbnailing, scoring and file moves — happens locally on your computer. Specifically, we do not:

  • upload, transmit or copy your photos, thumbnails, file names or folder structure;
  • collect, store or transmit facial images, facial landmarks, biometric templates or expression data — face detection runs in memory and its results are written only into the local analysis result;
  • collect usage analytics, telemetry, crash reports, feature counters or session recordings;
  • access your clipboard, camera, microphone, contacts or location.

Face and expression analysis is performed on-device for the sole purpose of ranking your own photos. No biometric identifier is created for identification purposes, and no biometric data is retained after the analysis result is produced.

3. What is transmitted, and when

Network communication occurs only for licence management: activation, periodic validation, and deactivation. The request contains:

FieldWhat it isWhy
Licence keyThe key you received with your purchaseTo confirm the licence is valid
Machine identifierA SHA-256 hash derived from your mainboard UUID and your Windows user name, truncated to 16 charactersTo count activations per computer and prevent licence sharing
App versionFor example 1.0.0To keep older clients working
NameOnly if you type one when activatingTo display who the licence is registered to

Your IP address is visible to the servers that receive these requests, as with any HTTPS connection. We do not log it for profiling, and no advertising or analytics SDK is present in the application.

4. Who processes it

  • Cloudflare — hosts the licence gateway that mediates between the application and our payment provider. Requests are processed on Cloudflare's global edge network and are not retained beyond operational logging.
  • Creem — our Merchant of Record. Creem processes your order, payment details and invoice data and is the seller of record for the transaction. Creem's own privacy policy governs that data.

We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

5. Where it is processed

The licence gateway runs on Cloudflare's global edge network and the payment records are held by Creem. Both may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers rely on the safeguards offered by those providers (including Standard Contractual Clauses) as described in their respective policies.

6. What is stored on your computer

So that the application works offline and remembers your choices, the following files are written locally. None of them contain photos.

LocationContents
%APPDATA%\AICuller\license.jsonLicence state, licence key, machine identifier, signature
%APPDATA%\AICuller\Your preferences: language, theme, thumbnail size, CPU thread cap, scoring weights, grouping rules, Review folder path
%APPDATA%\RichardTsai\AICuller\eula.jsonRecord that you accepted the EULA, and when
%LOCALAPPDATA%\AICuller\ and %ProgramData%\RichardTsai\AICuller\Trial-period record (used to prevent trial resets)
Application folder → app.logLocal diagnostic log of the most recent runs; may contain file paths you scanned

Nothing in these files is uploaded automatically. You can delete them at any time; deleting the licence file returns the application to an unlicensed state, and deleting the trial record is why we keep two independent copies.

7. How long we keep it

Activation records are kept while your licence is active, so that you can reinstall without buying again. Order and invoice records are kept by Creem for the period required by tax law (typically 7–10 years). Local files remain on your computer until you delete them or uninstall the software.

8. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK (GDPR) or in California (CCPA/CPRA), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to processing, or request data portability. Write to richard@aiculler.cc and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise the right to erasure for activation data, include your licence key so we can locate the record. Deleting local files is entirely in your hands and requires no request.

9. This website

This site is a static page. It sets no advertising cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party trackers or fonts. Your browser's local storage is used for exactly one thing: remembering which language you selected, so the page does not reset on every visit. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

10. Children

AI Culler is a professional photography tool. It is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

11. Automated decisions

The AI produces scores and suggestions only. It never deletes, moves or filters anything on its own: every file operation requires your confirmation inside the application. No automated decision produces legal or similarly significant effects.

12. Security

Licence responses are verified with a public-key signature inside the application, so a modified local file cannot turn into a valid licence. All network traffic uses HTTPS. Because the software runs locally, the confidentiality of your photos depends primarily on the security of your own computer.

13. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date below and, for significant changes, note it in the application's release notes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
